Shift solenoid from sc3 auto fit in Sc4 tranny?
Im getting an sc400 ready to sell, but currently its shifting is acting up, and has been for aprox. 1500-2000 miles. I saw auto tranny fluid running down the driveway 2 days ago, and since then there's been a significant change in the tranny issues. Flashing o/d light, and at a red light the car falls out of, and kicks back into gear several times before it turns green. Seems itsjust super low on fluid.
I pretty much assume the solenoids are bad, causing the o/d flashing. The pan is leaking, so while I could probably get away with gray liquid gasket, a new gasket for the pan would be best along with some gray stuff. I have a spare sc300 tranny, and im curious if the shift solenoids will be a direct swap, or if I should by the non-direct replacements for my sc4 tranny that need shims and bracket modding to bolt in and be seated correctly? I just want to have the car shift decent again so I can sell it. Suggestions appreciated!!!

I just made a posting in the other thread you were in. The shift solenoids help the car change gears by diverting the flow of fluid different directions (I assume you already know this )
If the car is falling out of gear I would fill it back up with fluid and see if it fixes the problem before you dive in to change solenoids when it could be a deeper issue.
ON my 4runner when the solenoids were failing my symptoms were that it would not start out in 1st gear. With a solenoid failed the car would start in 3rd gear. So no power. O/D light flashing, than the solenoid would click and off we would go. Sometimes on the freeway the O/D light would just start flashing.
YOu should pull the codes and see if you have a failed shift solenoid code in. I never had the car just fall in and out of gear.
Do some research but I bought my solenoids from here. It lists as being compatible with the A340E, even though Lexus is not on the list. Its a bit more than that other kit, but the brackets are already tacked on the solenoids. So no shims or modifying the bracket.
Good luck.
