I've searched the forum high and low. I just changed my altenator (bad distributor O-ring) and this belt is giving me the blues. I'm reusing the original belt and it will not go on! What am I doing wrong?!
Tensioner bolt is loose, belt is threaded correctly. It is my understanding that you're to "rotate" the bolt to swing the Tensioner but its designing to be torque to 30 lbs of force. At 30 even a little more, it doesn't swing? HELP! I want to set it on fire!
I never measured one exactly, but I'd say go ahead and increase the force (within reason) until it moves. Are you sure you're turning it in the direction that would make the belt have slack?
Well, I'd go ahead and try like 50-60 lbs and see if that does it. If it doesn't, I'd wonder if your tensioner is broken or something. There are some little marks on the timing cover that line up with marks on the upper hub of the tensioner (where it mounts). It's supposed to give you a scale of relative movement of the tensioner. Can you see whether your tensioner is in range?

I will attempt a little more force, hopefully not enough to snap the bolt, but again I'm assuming the Tensioner has done its duty after 148 k. *cue the horns and now your heads for a moment of silence*
