Default Chinese quality

Reading the post on Top Speed exhausts , I just wanted to comment on the quality of some , and that's the key word (some) Chinese products. They can and do make some quality products . It's much like the opinion we had of Japanese products until Sony and Honda changed our minds many years ago. You just have to be careful and know what to look for. Give them a good blueprint and specs. and they can make it. They're also known for cutting corners if you don't stay on top of the production. That's where a good contractor importer earns his $$'s.

I think many peoples concern about Chinese aftermarket automotive products, well at least often mine, is the blatant copyright and patent infringement.

Generic 2 can exhausts and the like don't bug me, but when they start slapping MHI, Garrett and other names on their generic and often substandard turbos it gets disturbing.

I think some people don't understand business. This industry only thrives because people pay it attention and give it tons of money.

What is most most ignorant toady is that people expect to pay lowgrade prices for premium products and turn around to cry wolf when they feel wronged.

In the end, everybody (not just Chinese companies) is out to get your money.

I agree. Patent infringement is a problem but not just with the Chinese. It's blatant in watches, jewelry, clothing just to name a few. Knock-offs are being produced here , Mex. , Italy , Spain, allover. Sometimes their as good as the original usually not. That's where being careful and knowledgeable comes into play, plus ethical. Would I knowingly buy a knock-off ? No. Have I ever bought a knock-off ? ???????? Sometimes the guality is so good you can't tell which is which.
