Default Headgasket ?

Hello guys,

Im am putting an SP63 on my NA Supra and I was actually curious as about my headgasket. As we all know i need a 3mm headgaket to lower my compression. Well when i talked to a reputable tuner they told me that they heard of Toyomoto actually stacking two twin turbo headgaskets to achieve this 8.5:1 compression ratio. Since many of you lexus guys have parts through toyomoto can any of you tell me if you know if this is the case and if so how has it worked out for you? Im really curious on this topic. Also when and if you installed it did you use any type of sealer on the headgaskets when you combined them or anything? If any one has any idea please email me at brett_turbo@hotmail.com or ill periodically try to check back here and see if anyone has posted.

Thanks,

Hey man! Good to see you over here at CL. Welcome. As far as the headgaskets go, I have not yet dealt with f/i (very soon in the future though). I know SC300T or Sleepr on the other board knows a little trick with using two TT head gaskets and swapping thin thck layers every other one, but I'm not sure about the details of this kind of work. Maybe he can chime in, but I've seen it posted over at the other forum and there may be some info found here on a search. I'm sure the turbo guys can answer this better though.

toyomoto makes the head gasket you need...i had it on my car for well over a year and made over 450rwhp on it......no issues ever....they do not stack 2 gaskets on top of each other.....call up toyomoto and get the gasket you need.....youll need it with an SP 63....Jeff

Jeff, I know toyomoto is great quality and all. But they refuse to sell seperate components. I would be suprised if they came up off a head gasket w/o purchasing an entire set-up. But one can always try. I know Scott has a little trick with two TT gaskets seperated and stacked to drop the compression. Maybe he can chime in.

Per Larry at SP:

2x Supra TT gaskets = 8.5:1

The Supra TT gasket is three pieces (stopper type). I forget exactly but have it written down somewhere---it goes something like this: You use two gasket sets, six pieces total and you use five out of the six gasket to get to 3mm. I forget which one you throw out, but its thick-thin-thick-thin, er something like that.

You can e-mail me in private and I'll try to find the note at work.
scott@datapathusa.com

I'm also not absolutely sure whether you use stock torque on the head bolts or not?

Jeff-----> any idea what Lance charges for the gasket? If its close pricewise, I'll just have him send one up.

For awhile, its gonna be:
little turbo
low compression
big cam

This is pretty funny... I know of about 2 cases where the individual thought it was just that easy to stack the 2 gaskets together and in turn blew the motor when the gaskets did not seal right I wouldn't skimp out and try doing the CHeap end of the deal... BTW, the Toyomoto gaskets are $350.00 and we do not have at this "moment" any manifolds to sell seperately. We do sell them, however we have not received a shipment as of yet....

Should you have any other Toyomoto Product questions, feel free to email me at mkiv94tt@aol.com or sales@toyomoto.com....

Regards,

Dan

Wow! Thanks a lot Dan for your input. I am very interested in a cast manifold from Toyomoto. If it is at all possible, would you be able to let us on this forum know when some are available? Either by PM or a thread? Would a group buy for CL be a possibility? I know these things are in short supply but please hold one if one makes itself available and I will gladly fork the cash. I would want the headgasket also.

Best Regards,

Andrew Johnson
