Dont have the time to watch the full video, but yeah first you set the motor to TDC, align the notches on the distributor, then you stab it in and bolt it down. then you start the motor and set the timing with a timing light cause it can be pretty far off even with aligning everything.

If you cannot get the timing to 10 degrees, it means you have to start over, as in set it back to TDC and remove and reinsert the distributor. what happens is that cause of the teeth on the gears, sometimes it turns too much when pushing it into the head, so what alot of us do is align the marks on the distributor, then turn it back one click, and then stick it in, that sometimes does the trick when the regular way doesn't work. your experience may vary.

another way to be sure is to remove spark plug and place a piece of rubber tube in the spark plug hole until it sets on top of the piston. Then turn the crank and watch for when the rubber tube gets to its highest point. This is how you can do it if you lose timing while the timing covers are off

thanks....

my distributor seal needs to be replaced asap so i think ima go through and fiddle with distributor a bit until i get a timimng light to properly set my base timing...

will check to see if distributor was installed properly first though..

but why is it that sometimes after the car is warm, it throttles properly n sometimes it doesn't ?
