I've seen a few people use carbon fiber vinyl to wrap around it and I've also seen someone with a black wood grain vinyl wrap once.

I found pictures of most of these in various member's build threads, but I don't have any links yet. I'll try to find a few a in later to help give you some ideas.

There was a guy who recently did a piano black finish and it looks amazing. I would suggest that or the black wood grain look.

Has anyone ever sanded the wood trim with a fine grit and restained them? Added clear over them? That's my plan I want to do a cherry red kind of deal.

All comes down to how much you're willing to pay.

If you're looking for another wood color, you can always try the 3M Dinoc series vinyl. I recently had this crazy idea to change my wood color to something unique. So I purchased a SC430 blond birds eye wheel. The rest of the wood was going to be sent off for dip tech but I found a 3M dinoc vinyl that was pretty close. The only issue was it had a matte surface. So I applied glossy vehicle wrap laminate that's able to curve and gives the impression of a clear coat. I have yet to install everything as I was sourcing the air bag and adapter wire. I finally got everything in and have been waiting for a warmer day to install. I got my inspiration from a white Soarer from Japan that's been posted from time to time that has the same light birds-eye interior. I'll see if I can dig up a picture for you.

EDIT: Found it!

Although that radio looks disgusting and I have no idea what's going on with those air vents, that looks fantastic!
