Default custom coilovers?

I am looking into coil overs and notice a lot of people run PBM, Tein, Megan, HKS and the list goes on. I just recently rode in a friends 240SX that he built custom coil overs for. Not cheap, but they also are not single adjustable. He has used Koni 8611 inserts with 2.25 inch springs and custom strut housings. Saved him about 20 pounds of weight, but the key is that they are double adjustable. 240SX uses a front strut and rear shock. The Sc300 uses a shock front and rear. we want to try it on an SC300. Questions raised though, how will replacing a shock with a strut affect handling? I am no suspension expert but I know there is a difference. I know the cost alone may not be worth it, but complete suspension tuning would be. any input would be great.

If you get Koni Yellows you can have them rebuilt to be double adjustable and all that fancy stuff- http://www.propartsusa.com/bb-i-15.html

A nice touch bender! Looked at the site and I am amazed. The cost of conversion is higher, but then there is no need for custom housings and/or modified pickup points. Thanks for the input!

Holy crap your friend could be considered one of the rarest 240sx owners out there. Usually 240 owners are associated with megans, pbm, and other craptastic coilovers.

who can convert the bilsteins into double adjustable? interested in these as well. GSTEG you are mostly right about 240sx owners. there are the few that put money into cars. it helps that he is a machinist so he builds almost everything. he still charges friends though.... damn

Bender, you are the man. Thanks for both sites. I like the options of the bilsteins, and thank you all who chimed in. The bilsteins set-up for double adjustable are way cheaper than the konis. I have found my suspension I am going to utilize.

Nice. I hope you do. I'd like to see someone go all out with the Bilsteins.

Its going to be slow, maybe end of January, but I want to do foot work before power. I always build from the ground up. I am right now making a mock up for a turbo manifold, the ghetto way. Using PVC piping to get the design, then having my fabricator weld one exactly like it out of schedule 10 with bracing. I like creating stuff and would rather build than buy, because i learn something

Awesome man. Good luck. Make a build thread for it, too.
