I need a replacement remote for my 1992 SC 400. I never had the original remote. Where is the best place to get one? Thanks

If you're talking about the original key with the remote built in....you have to go to the dealer to get a new one made...$300 for the key.
Whatever you do don't go to any other key making place. If you do, and they actually make the key...once you use it the key will lock the entire car system up. Then you will have to call the dealership and spend 3 to 4 grand to have them unlock the system.
Our keys are (if I'm not mistaken) laser cut and have a chip in them that has to be coded at the dealer.

It sucks having to pay so much for a key but either way it will have to come from the dealer.

So I'm sure this is get searched a lot so I'll go ahead and put in the link and instructions for you guys to get keys for a reasonable price:
http://www.sewellparts.com/
Register in the site, and you'll notice there's a section for "club membership" and clublexus is an option. You put in you CL name and get setup. Now when you're logged in you'll see the CL price for all parts. This is a great source for some of those OEM parts that our local dealers will want to gouge on. Scottsdale lexus wanted $200 for the key, $50 to cut it, $300 to program it. Absurd. You might not be able to do much on dodging your local dealer's programming fees, but at least save money on the key

I had a spare made at a local shop place, and i tested it put it in the ignition and it work and everything was fine, no lock up or anything. How is using a spare going make the whole car lock itself up?
