oh gd!! i ignored this thread for a week lol in a word epic!!! i have the same plan in works for my woodgrain. only hope it comes out that good. and thanks for the idea of shaving the volume ****. headliner is supreme. i do agree with the others though in the fact that your interior looks better then most mercedes interiors and the steering wheel is throwing it off. delete the wheel and get a 3 spoke then have it custom wrapped and your just simply sc pimpin. sweet job dude just sexy. you have the only gold sc i ever liked.
Question, about the piano balck, did you sand your center console down then paint it black? how many coats of black did you do and how many Clear cots did you do? since im on summer break i should be doign this to my interior.
All of the wood panels were treated like body panels. Sand, primer, 2 base coats and 2 clear coats to achieve the piano black. You have to use the deepest black available (usually a base color). Oh, and a **** ton of wet sanding and polishing.

Thanks man. Yeah, the wheel is definitely getting mixed reviews. Some love it, some hate it. I'm in the middle. It does clash a bit with the OEM nature of the interior but I love the security aspect of the quick release. I pull the wheel and lock it up in the trunk.
As far as the comparison with other vehicles, the interior design is definitely classy and timeless, just like the exterior shape. I still am amazed at the quality of the fit and finish that Lexus did with the SC almost 20 years ago. I'm an interior critique, you know pushing, knocking, touching interior panels when I sit in cars. WTF happened to these manufacturers and their liberal use of hard plastics? I love the ergonomics of modern interiors but the material selection blows a$$.
ok sounds simple ive delt with paint before, when i repainted my car, what grit did you start out with? 220, 400, 800? prime, base, base, clear, clear? how long did you let teh clear dry up for? in between coats? and for wet sanding is it teh normal 800,1000,1200,2000,2500 then buff? sorry for asking too much thanks!!
You have quite a bit of sanding steps in there, too many. 220-320 before primer, 1500-2000 wet sand should be good. Treat this just like painting the exterior of the car.

And be careful on the edges.
oh ok, how long did you have to wait for the second clear coat? or matter of fact how long does it take to dry? before shooting a 2nd coat of clear.

My paint guy shot the panels. There is NO way I could get that good of a finish. Be careful if using rattle can. High gloss smooth piano black finish is not trivial. Follow the traditional wait times for flashing of paint.

got Free access to the bodyshop at my old high school, the only big thing is probably shooting the woodgrain on the dash, which is going to be ALOT of taping... and ALOT of plastic use.

I wouldn't even attempt to prep/shoot in the car. This is impossible!
lol... thats wat i would have said too... man by the time ur done preping the car its gunna look like a big ball of paper ready to be thrown in the trash. i would take the pieces out too
black interior has that black color dome light/sunroof cover stock? i thought they came in gray or something. looks fantastic. i wanted to wrap my headliner but couldn't figure out what to do with the dome light.
