Question Gray Interior Specifics

I would appreciate it if someone with a 2012 RX350 or RX450h and gray interior, could tell me how the colors look on the door panels and carpet:
1) Interior Doors - are they:
A) Black at top under window with completely gray below and wood trim around controls
B) Entirely black except for gray trim on edge of armrest with wood trim around controls
C) Something else?
2) Carpet - is it:
A) Gray
B) Black
The issue I have is various Lexus marketing materials, photos (and simulations) on the web, their mobile site, via iOS Enform App, and brochure, show different amounts of black trim and carpet colors when it comes to "gray interior":
- Virtual tour shows gray interior with doors as "1A" and gray carpet
- Photos (#13 Interior) shows doors as "1B" and black carpet
- Colors (Interior) show doors as "1B" and black carpet

I have a 2012 RX450h Nebula Gray Pearl with Parchment interior on-order with estimated delivery in perhaps another 6+ weeks. I received a call from my sales rep today that the dealership received notification (and a VIN) this morning of a bonus RX450h they will soon be receiving in my exact configuration, except for gray interior, that will be arriving in very early January. I can have my choice of my original parchment interior when that arrives or this one several weeks earlier in gray at the same price, and make that choice once I see the gray version at the dealership. (How great and flexible of them!) My original RX300 had parchment (tan) interior and my current RX400h is gray (much like "1A" above with aluminum trim and gray carpet) so I like both and understand how to deal with maintenance of lighter interiors. Charcoal and too much "black" on the door side panels, especially in the carpets or seats is out for my new RX450h, as my English Creme (white) Golden Retriever rides in my backseat (with a canine cover) most of the time, and I'm pretty **** when it comes to keeping a clean ride inside and out. Dealing with white hair is a challenge on black, not so bad with gray or parchment. Knowing more if the door panels and carpet are black or gray with gray leather interior will settle how excited I should be about perhaps having a new RX several weeks earlier than I anticipated -- at least until I can see it in person. THANKS in advance for your help.

+1 - my wife's Starfire Pearl with Gray interior looks exactly the same inside.

Note that if you get the stock Lexus carpeted mats they are black with lighter color "lexus" lettering on them

The 450 and 350 are done differently with the Grey interior. Go to the dealer and take a look. I believe the 450 has more two tone on the doors.

Thumbs up

THANKS to all for your input, especially to MX5NES350 for the pics. It sounds like there is hope I may have earlier delivery than planned (love the mostly gray doors and carpet!), but will have to see how much variation the RX450h actually has as MEP7557 indicates, once it hits the dealer's lot.

I'll get pictures up soon after delivery, whichever version (gray or parchment) I end up with in the next few weeks -- once I get my own detailing regime done, the dealer wax stripped off, and an initial 3 layers of Zaino applied as I do to each of my new vehicles when they arrive home.

THANKS again, and happy holidays to all.

Here is a 2012 RX450h for sale in Rockville, MD. This should be able to answer your comparative questions:

Here is the ad: http://www.cars.com/go/search/detail...nal&listType=1

Here are the interior pics:

and of course the sticker:

Hopefully this helps a bit more.

Thanks MX5NES350. This helped A LOT more, and it does appear selecting the gray interior is one place with a rather significant difference between RX350 and RX450h (other than exterior lighting and badging)... black carpet on the 450 and more two-tone on the door side panels as MEP7557 suspected. I'll still go see the "gray interior" when it comes in (I have nothing to loose), but unfortunately I doubt I'll take it at this point... too much black challenging me with keeping it clean. A few weeks more until my Nebula Gray / Parchment arrives. SHUCKS!

I have a Pug (you can see my avatar) and I used, and still do, a dog "hammock" in the back of the vehicles to keep hair at bay. If anyone ever tells you Pugs don't shed they are a liar or have never owned one. It works pretty well but the hair still flies around the cabin on occassion and it's a bugger to get out of the carpet piling if you let it sit there too long. I have to admit, I think he likes the ride better in the RX and my old ES. But he still prefers the top down weather to either.

Good luck in your decision and report back

I just noticed something and maybe a 450h owner can help me - are the backs of the rear seats plastic or is this some kind of weird reflection? The 350's are carpeted.

I bet that is the tonneau cover that is not clipped on to the back seat headrests (at least that is how my gen2 400h would look when I've not clipped them into place)

Yep, it's the tonneau cover hanging down. It clips to the back of the seat rather than under the headrests. I prefer the old way better.

The seats used to be two toned on the 450h with the grey interior IIRC. I almost got it but high maintenance held me back. Maybe if it was darker like the 1st gen. And the chrome sills are only on the hybrid.

My Tonneau cover is on a shelf in the garage. I have never used them in any of my vehicles. It is so clumsy to use anytime you want to lower a seat, put somthing large in etc.
