Ps Grinding/whining
It all started when i went to pick up my gf from work as i was driving home my car started to make a loud grinding sound as if i was low on PS fluid i stopped at a gas station to fill up on PS fluid and realized i was low filled it up and it still was grinding while the hood was up i gave it gas by the throttle and noticed it was coming through the top of the PS reservoir thinking it was my pump i replaced it and i still made the same noise i looked for leaks at the rack and pinion (which i replaced months before) and nothing even looked at the high pressure line that runs from the pump to the rack and didnt see any leaks it only seems to come from the top of the reservoir while driving any ideas kinda stumped. =/
Thanks for the replies well I haven't "properly" flushed the system so there being air in the system is highly likely as for the noise it happens at idle and while driving feels like the steering wheel fights back a little while I turn.
So I took it to a buddy of mine at Lexus where he performend a power steering flush I drove it home which it drove good no grinding however after shutting of my car and turning it back on 5 min later the grinding came back and fluid resumend to leak from the top of the reservoir any ideas?
OK! with my car acting up since Monday, I have spent many hours on trying to figure out what my issue could be. I replaced the PS pump with a used pump and then brand new pump. I also replaced the Valve on the Rack and Pinion as well as the hoses (not the high pressure hose) and I also replaced the Inlet tube seal (Brass piece on PS Pump connected to reservoir). Turning lock to lock with noise going away a lot. The foam still occured after driving and PS fluid leaking through the top of the Reservoir. Is there any other suggestions on how air will come in to the system?
Did you reuse the old hose clamps that hold the return hoses onto the pump? This might be the source. I had serious trouble bleeding my power steering system after I replaced the pump. Turned out to be bad hose clamps were allowing air into the system. Just a thought.
Good luck!

you still have air in the system. 100% guaranteed. replace/retighten all the hoses, fill up with fluid, start the car and idle it, then turn the wheel from lock to lock. dont go to full lock. stop just a bit short. go from left lock to right lock a bunch of times. shouldnt take more than 10 minutes to bleed.
Thanks for all the input guys I fixed the issue a couple of days ago and thought I should check in I replaced all the low pressure side hoses with new hoses and new clamps and it is now running like a champ I appreciate all input an hope this helps anybody else out in the future (sorry for not using proper Punctuation marks I'm replying from my phone)
