Lexus SC400 w/ spoiler trunk lifters installed video
Just wanted to share with you my accomplishment of installing my lexus sc400 trunk lifters.
The dealer wanted $250 to install 2 lifters for my trunk lid that was replaced once already in 2002.
I purchased these STRONG ARM lifters from Advance auto parts for $22.22.
They have a Limited Lifetime warranty. Advance auto parts sales person said that means just bring it back when they wear out.

For those who changed their struts already. Did you have to replace the ball that the end of the strut goes on?
Just curious because I just reused the old ones that were already there.
But then again I believe the original struts were replaced before.

I recall that my struts came with new ball ends. But one pkg was missing one so I reused old one without a problem. I put some white lithium grease on the *****. (insert joke here). I suspect it's more likely that your strut seals will go bad again before the ball-ends do. So, did your trunk have some sort of rubber stop on the curved trunk support pipes. Mine didn't & trunk opens all the way until the strut bottoms out. I've been looking for pics of this rubber stop, so if you have one, pls post pic. Thanks.
How are your hood struts holding up? That's another common problem that is very easy to fix. AND that hood is heavy.

Yes mine had black bumpers on the the curve on the arm of the trunk lid.
I seems that its there to make the trunk stop smooth instead of a jerk.
Sorry I didn't take a picture of it.

Are the Strong Arm trunk supports prone to failure? I bought a new pair online in 2011 as per post #888 in this thread: https://www.clublexus.com/forums/sc-...ml#post6436062 And now my Strong Arm part #4508 trunk supports are dead. Unfortunately I don't have the purchase info so I don't know if a warranty was available. So i'll buy another set. But if this brand is prone to failure, why bother.
