Default trunk spoiler weight

i've noticed that since i installed a trunk spoiler the trunk doesn't pop up on it's own anymore when opened. it's an OEM type spoiler and seems very light. is this normal or do i need to replace the trunk shocks?

I believe there are two settings on the trunk springs. You may need to adjust it to hold the spoiler weight.

From what I heard you have to buy a different trunk spring or re position the one thats in there now. I had the same issue on mine before I took it off.

Check with Darrell Diller at lexusparts.com/Sewell Lexus in Dallas, TX. They are a CL Vendor. I purchased a "heavy-duty" trunk spring assembly designed to resist the weight of the OEM type spoiler. For the first couple of years it was great, the trunk lid would fully pop up even in a strong wind. However, I'm in and out of the trunk several times each day and eventually it has lost about 90% of its resistance. If you don't use the trunk often it should work out great. Price was minimal too.
Cheers,
DJC

Thanks for the tips and head-up. I never think about weight of the spoiler can cause problems.

I recall seeing a DIY remedy where you can adjust / re-position the current ones which fixes the problem. Wish I kept the link....
