ive never done it before, but my friend has. Changing out the door panels, seats, carpet, console, and others is a pretty straight forward bolt on or screw off. Taking off the dash though could be a little hassel and the steering wheel column. Ask aliga i beleive he still has some black interior parts available and could explain to you in deeper depth on how to install the pieces. Good Luck
Only course, doors panels and seats are the easiest. I think your issue will be the dashboard, and airbags depending your year of the car and the year of the part you got it off too. It would def take more than a day especially if u don't know or exploring how it strip it. I would strip everything first, then start from the top of the car first, put the carpet in then the rear and work yourself up to the front
Many of us chose to paint everything to black using SEM, including the leather seats.
That's what I just did, came out alright, I didn't do the whole car just the dark brown areas, the dash is a pain in the *** to remove if it's your first time.
Here are some pics of my car after using SEM dye for all the black pieces. Came out great and this was done last year and still looking as good as the day I had it done. It's all in the prep work as well as putting light, even coats and you will be set.
Get it done right... swap your interior. I hope when people decides to sell their car, they put in "Full black interior (SEM painted)" because the buyer has the right to know. OEM > SEM in the long run.
I assume it is a leather friendly spray paint of sorts--------please let me know
I saw someone do their steering wheel and it looked great.
SEM is a dye product meant to change the color of most plastic and vinyl materials inside automobiles. It can also work well on leather as well. It honestly comes down to the amount of prep work you do before you spray the parts. Here is a nice video on youtube showing the steps on how to dye materials found inside a car.
You can purchase SEM just about anywhere. Just type in SEM paint in google and it will come up with several online shops who sell it. Heck even ebay has it and you can purchase several cans at a time.
It doesnt matter how well you paint it tho, my friend had his whole car dyed. It was good for the first two years, but after a while, it started fading, it looked stupid afterwards. It's always better to get OEM interior, you know it will last.
People will tell you SEM holds and its been a year and its still good, give it some more time, fact is, there is no dye that is good enough to outlast OEM materials. So if you're going to make the effort on taking everything off anyways, get it done right the first time.
