Default intake fabrication

Ok... I currently have my pass. side headlight removed and apart for the cleaning deal. While I have it off, I want to get something to get more air into the engine. I want to take of the snorkel and reroute a pipe or something to the upper air opening in the bumper. Basically, just lowering the intake where the snorkel was Has anyone done this, and if so what did you use? I dont want anything cheesey like dryer vent flexible tubing.
Thanks
Tim

Also (tried to) change the fuel filter tonight. I got one bolt loose and drained the remainging gallon in there (lexus parts guy said there were valves and only a cup would come out- guess he was wrong). After that, I couldnt get the other bolt out and I tried everything. So, put back together and pay a garage to do it for $20 or whatever for something that -should- be easier to do than an oil change.
Grrrrrr.... how frustrating.

Maybe go to home depot and find something that looks kewl. Some friends of mine often just modify the factory parts to work better.

On the fuel filter... They get stuck on pretty good. I unbolted mine, then tried to take the fuel lines off and found myself rebolting it to the car. It wasn't too bad at that point. If you get the car high enuff off the ground you can use a short piece of pipe on the end of the wrench for leverage.
