Angry short some where

its shorting out somewhere, ill be driving along, ill hit the turn signal, all the lights go out, dash head lights everything, they come back on in 2 seconds, but the clock is reset, its been doing it alot these past couple of days. and the ABS light comes on and goes off too. and then i parked the car, and the steering wheel went up, and then when i put the key in it didnt come down, i took the key out and put it back in, phew, it worked, i wasnt going to drive my lex home with a bus like steering wheel, ok, over all the car has been feeling so sluggish latley, i stopped at a dealer today to look at another SC it was 1993 with 169000 miles on it, guy was asking 9500, i offered 6 but thats becides the point, it started strong and the engine had a nice tough sound, my engine has a tick tick tick sound, why, i want my SC to grow its b*lls back. how do i do that? its burning oil as well but that was addressed in another post, "THANKS PETER!" anyway, i guess theres a short in there, have anyof you guys had this problem before, THAT TICK TICK NOISE IS DRIVING ME CRAZY. plus today, some shmuck in a ford focus with no exhaust pipe tried to race me, so after blowing him away, pulling into my parking spot, i can smell coolant, the whole thing is falling apart on me, help, its probaly all nothing, but i am paranoid about every little thing, and while im at it the wood pice in the driver side door is not tight so it makes a rattle everytime i go over a bump, i drive with my elbow on it so i dont have to hear it, how do i fix that?

sorry about the ramblings, its friday night, im in a strange town in south florida, the only companion i have is my lex, so naturaly the only thing i have to talk about becides my work is my car. and my work sucks, just ask the stock market about that one, ok guys, I need a drink,
later

It sounds like your connectors are loose behind your gauges or your gauge cluster is just dying. Check the wires...if it's not the wires, just get a new Gauge cluster...

As for the tick tick, sounds like you need a valve adjustment.

As for coolant, sounds like you have a leak. When was the last time you did a tune up? It sounds like you do don't take care of your car or it has a sh!tload of miles on it....

As for the wood piece, take off the door panel (3 screws on the bottom, two screws under the handle, two screws on the front of the door covered by two plastic caps) Pop the door panel off, get a little open ended wrench (forget the size) and just tighten whichever nut is loose...there are like 5 of them that hold the wood piece on.

It's actually very simple once you learn how to take the door panel off. Be careful not to torque the door panels screws too hard when you put it back on...since it's a '92, the panel is most likely crusty and the material around the screw holes are probably ready to snap...that's what happens to 11 year old door panels...

Default dont worry

It

ya thats probaly the case on that, the tick tick noise comes after it warms up, when u start it cold it sounds good.

it sounds like you havent read my other posts, this thing has been serviced lex since day one, I harldy ever beat on it, and no it does not have a sh!tload of miles on it. its got 102000 on it, @ 90K i did complete tune up cost about 1500. it ran fine than.

Hmmm, your short sounds like a wire got exposed somewhere...I can't diagnose that one...

As for the coolant, maybe you just sprung a leak...102K miles is a lot of miles...not a sh!tload, but it's still a lot. Just lift the car and look for the leak...shouldn't be too hard...follow the trail...

Default search for the 'ghosts' thread

Many of the coupes have this problem frequently. Do a search for the thread 'ghosts in my electrical system'

A battery upgrade and clean terminals fixed the problem for me.

my 2 cents.....I have had some bad ghosts in some of the cars I've owned...Almost always pays to have someone that only does car electrical to take a look at it...

someone who really knows car electrical can diagnose fairly quickly......they have all the meters, schematics, etc....

it's the way to go for ghosts...
