Default My sorta-kinda Renaissance Red SC...

Well, i guess this is my intro thread. Sort-of on going build, and just to show off pictures.

Got this car a few weeks ago, took long enough. It's a 1998 SC300. 129k miles, mint interior, exterior, bleh.....hence why i say it's sort of renaissance red, it's been poorly repainted on the lower left hand side and front bumper. And random other panels are off colors.... but, i still love it.

Couple questions though, is there a way to know if the car is using full synthetic oil? Because i scheduled a full synthetic oil change tomorrow morning and i heard that it's bad to go to full synthetic from conventional.

And another quick question, does anyone have any unique ways or just good ways to put a third brake light on the car? Mine came factory with the wing, and i took it off not too long ago, not realizing that i now don't have a third break light. Any ideas? (Oh, and if anyone is looking for a 97+ rear wing, PM me)

On to some pics!
(it's amazing how little pictures i've taken of/with this car, considering i've been obsessed with it since purchase)

She looks great.

If you want, try finding the tan rear speaker deck from a car that was spoilerless. That will have the 3rd brake light. If not try making a custom housing. I'm in the process of doing something with an LED strip but I haven't really been working on it..

I was trying to think of some way of mounting an LED strip somewhere, eventually, when i get a roof spoiler like you have, i'll mount it under there, but til i can scrounge up $100+, i'll need a temp solution...which i have yet to figure out.

Oh, and if you look on the trunk lid, you'll see black circles, those are the plastic retainers used to keep the trunk liners in place, just to keep some of the rain out.....lol.

hey, does anyone know of a spray paint that's similar in color to renaissance red? i removed the front logo and want to respray the area because of the grey body filler. the body shop wasn't willing to respray just that little area. So like, any of the duplicolor perfect match paints that highly resemble Renaissance Red? or any other brands that match well?

They're both 3L2, so they're one in the same color...."Rally Red" is what Toyota calls it..."Renaissance Red" is what Lexus refers to it as a way of sounding "classy".

Hmmm...with your 3rd brake light missing, do you get that tail lamp failure warning indicator on your dash cluster?

P.S I'm also a fellow 3L2 (Renaissance Red) owner...It's always nice to have another 3L2 Red SC join our ranks.

Looks really good! My friend with a Ren. red SC painted his front lip a while back and got it to match pretty well. I forget which spray paint he used. His username is bangdangvn if you want to try to find the thread. I think he gives the brand/color of the paint.

EDIT: Found the thread: https://www.clublexus.com/forums/sc-...front-lip.html

The color is colonial red. The pics in the thread are from when he first painted it with duplicolor. He says the colonial red matches much better.
