Question Replacing Dash Needles.......

I am sure that this has been covered in another posting but you will have to forgive me as to I am new to the group. I have a 92 SC400 that all but one of the Indicator Needles are out and the one that is not out might as well be because it just flickers off an on.

I called a couple of dealers and was told that I had to replace every gauge and possibley the circuit pannel that is behind the instrument cluster. Well for $1500 US dollars I think that there must be an alternative to this. If you have any information on this I would greatly appreciate it.

Thanks

here are the steps:

1. call them back and ask them to gently kiss your butt(there i didn't curse)

2. you can get a new assembly for $560 dollars at lexussc400.com

OR
1. you can call them back and ask them to gently kiss your butt(i hope everyone is happy again)

2. you can take other peoples advice and jimmy rigg your classy lexus with some glow in the dark paint. haha

I guess it depends on how much money you have to spend. You may consider doing a search because i think somebody on this forum replaced the individual lights with white ones. Not sure though

good luck

i'll have you know that it is also very easy to install yourself. HOWEVER, know that replacing this assembly with a new one gives it the incorrect mileage, THUS violently killing whatever resale your car used to have. my cars value droped from 13,000 to about 9,000 when i did this awhile ago. It mattered at the time but i have decided to keep my car until it blows up. That assembly "mistake" saved me from the mistake of buying an american car. i love my car and don't care what it's "worth" to other people, all i know is that my car is fly and it gets lots of looks.

Default Another Option

There is a company in orlando that if you send them your current burnt out one, and 300 bucks they will send you back a working one. I was planning on having that done on my car...well before i ended up parking it in the forest.

If you want the name, ill go through my paperwork to try to find it.

Neil,

This is the very first I have heard of replacing the dash resetting your odometer. I thought that the odometer number was kept in the computer and not in the instrumant panel assembly.

Can someone else please discuss this point as well. Is there a way to prevent this from occurring?

Thanks,
Ryan

Hey Galvin,

This company isn't another one of these "day glow lights - get them now" kinds of goosechases is it?

Just had to ask buddy, don't take offense please.

-Ryan I thought the mileage was kept in the ECU or some other computer , it doesn't make any sense that a NEW instrument panel would display the "incorrect mileage", you would think it would display 0 zero miles if the instrument panel had anything to do with it. 99% sure it doesn't otherwise lexus/toyota would know about the problem ...right?

The dayglow gauges were there, but we didnt get the 15 people required to sign up in order to get them made. On this board lots of people talk the talk, but don't actually walk the walk.

Lexus of Orlando recomended this company to me. They somehow fix or replace your gauges and send you a new cluster. Like i said before, I haven't done it because I no longer own a sc300, but next time i go to the office I will look for my notes on it.

And if anyone knows of a 92-94 Black sc300 thats stick...let me know =]

Gavin, there was a group buy on dayglow gauges? Is this like the white gauges (aftermarket) for Supras? WHo makes them? Perhaps we can get another group buy going? I think most people would want to know how much it costs as well as installation.
