I think lexus stopped putting the manual tran in the sc 300 in 97???
Can anyone verify?

Is it therefore possible to swap the older transmission into the 98-00'
models in order to have a newer year be manual????

thx

Lol Yeah 92-97.

And yes you can install any SC/MK4 W58 in your SC and it will work.
Couple of people have issues about CEL.

What about the manual tranny used in the IS300? Could we use that in the SC?

Manual SC's 92-97.

SC300 5SPD : W58, similar to NA tranny of MKIII/IV's
IS300 5SPD : W55, IIRC

I might have seen some people swap in W58's into the IS300's over @ my.is (IIRC) while I was looking for one but seeing as how the W58 is probably better than the W55, I don't see why you'd you replace your W58 unless its giving up on you or you found a great deal.

The W55 will fit but they are just as weak as the W58 if not weaker from what I heard.

Yes the W55 is weaker and the flywheel on the IS300 stupid expensive but you can use the
W58 flywheel if is you have a W58 Bellhousing .
Yeah the Bellhousing are different but interchangeable.
