Default Rear spoiler light- just venting

I just bought a 1995 SC400 - decent shape, needs a little body work, but it runs great.
Anyway - I did the searching on the forum and found various posts about the difficulty of replacing a nonworking rear tail light. Just had to share my own vent - as nice as this car is, WTF were they thinking making it so freakin' impossible to fix a broken LIGHT? How absurd!

I'm going to see if I can't find an LED to replace it myself with. I have a hard time paying a couple hundred bucks for the OEM part.

Other than that - man, it's a fun car! I'm getting quotes right now to get it repainted, and once that's done, it oughta look pretty nice. Other than the broken spoiler light, of course.

That's all. Just had to share.

at least you have an LED on your spoiler. Mine is some cheap *** replica crap
which is bowing all over. It also leaks water from the inside due to a the
previous owners amazing paint skills. I have an LED on the back deck. Think I'm
going to remove mine all together and just have a roof wing.

Thanks.

It's also why I'm not asking for help. I figured out for myself that my basic options are A) spend too much on OEM parts, B) fix it myself, and I'm an idiot about that stuff, so that oughta be fun or C) leave it be.

I looked into spoilerlights.com, but they don't seem to have the right size displayed on their website. The only real question I have is what size LED I'll need as a replacement. Otherwise, I'm just complainin'.

Update - found an OEM spoiler light for sale on Ebay. Didn't have to buy the whole freakin' spoiler, either. SWEET.

Cool

I bought an OEM replacement from the dealer (after checking the fuse and making sure that wasn't the cause).
Got it home and installed it.
It doesn't work either.

Don't burst my bubble just yet, man. Let me revel in actually finding one before worrying about whether it fixes the problem or not.

As much as I love the spoiler. Im thinking of going wingless just cause of that. Havnt decided yet. I'll decide when the bodywork begins in the upcoming months.

I hope you didnt pay an arm and a leg for the led itself. I was quick to find it is often easier to find the entire spoiler with a working LED for half the price of one of those stand alone replacement OEM LED strips

Stuff like that makes me glad my SC is wingless, but the spoiler looks so cool though.

No, I got a decent price. I had removed the old light and opened it up to remove the LEDS and was in the midst of finding a suitable replacement LED strip when I found the OEM part. I'd rather go that route than my own creation.

I love the spoiler, but seriously, this is just absurd. It's a freakin' brake light. I should be able to buy a replacement at Advance Auto and replace it in the parking lot in 5 minutes.
