Default Code 12 on a 93 SC400??

93 SC400
It smelled really strong of brakes or coolant, small puff of white smoke at a red light then died, will crank over but never fires.
CEL gives code 12 Knock Control Sensor signal
I guess 12 is also RPM whatever that means...

What does that mean? What should I look at first? Any chance this is a timing belt?

Found this on here...
https://www.clublexus.com/forums/per...pm-signal.html

Does it sound right that a bad distributor would create a strong smell and puff of smoke?

Stupid question but is the "distributor" the same thing as the "Distributor Cap" cuz I see those online new for $20 but this guy is talking about a $230 part.. makes me wonder if I am looking at the wrong part.

you dont need 3 threads to diagnose your 1 problem. wouldnt it be nice to have all your questions answered in 1 thread. just trying to help.
