Default Stance GR+ vs Tein CST

First off, yes I've searched.

I got my car back from the shop after having my starter stick on me and they told me I have a blown rear strut. I have not noticed it, so it's not hugely urgent, but I'd like to get it taken care of so I decided it's a good excuse to get coilovers .

So my question is this, CL: Stance GR+ or Tein CST? This is the only place I've heard about Stance coils and the reception has been pretty favorable. Tein has gotten very mixed reactions, from best DD coils ever to complete piles of garbage that last less than a month. The Stances are about $500 cheaper than the Teins.

I will be using my SC as a DD only.. I don't track my baby. I do drive fairly hard though. So which of these coils gives the best ride while allowing a good range of adjustability? I'm still on stock wheels and will be for a while since it'll take me another year or so to save up enough to get my Work VS-KFs, so I'm not planning on slamming it but I do want to lower it a little.

Also, are there any supporting mods (bushings, etc) I really need with coils? She's currently 100% stock, minus exhaust.

The Tein coilovers are quite possibly the closest thing you can get to stock ride quality. I know you only plan to lower your car 'a little', but eventually you'll want to lower the car more and that's where the tein cs is at a disadvantage.

These are good and bad reviews on both coilovers. From what I've heard, the Stance is decent for the money and I'd probably get them over the Tein CS, especially since it cost $500 less. Tein CS isn't worth the price they're asking now. They've jacked it up a couple hundred within the past 2 years.

Anyways you should look into BC Racing coilovers. They can get you custom spring rates to match what kind of ride you want. Plus they're slightly cheaper than Stance.

Thanks for the response! I'll definitely look into BC Racing to see what they have to offer.

if you are looking for near stock ride quality: Tein CS-T is for you

if you are looking to get really low: Stance GR+ is for you

I will only put stance on my cars, I have stance on both my cars.

it really depends on what you want to do with your car. the CST are very soft like stock so they are best for DD usage.

Stance have high spring rates and are ment for some one that wants sporty suspension feel.

customer service for Tein is ****. i had tein flex on my miata, and they blew in a year and tein didnt want to help me

Ive never delt with stance customer service but i tell you what, People that have bought miata 1st gen coilovers have gotten upgraded to the newest versions of stance for free. that says something to me.

Stance customer service is great, but I have a friend who has been waiting to get their shock rebuilt/replaced. According to stance, they said it's going to take about 8 weeks. Wonder if that's normal for Stance.

What I like about BCR is that they send out replacement shocks if you had to rebuild it so there is really no downtime.

Thumbs up

Loving my Tein CS + EDFC!!
The SC is lower than stock and rides better, and yet handles better, than it did stock.

ok lemme say it this way. Stance d2 ksport and a few other companies are basically the same exact thing. Not sure how they work but Ive had my cst for a few years now not one problem and tein sells every component possible to rebuild there coilovers. I got quoted 990 shipped for bcr coilovers if you wanna go that route. If you want I have a friend who can hook you up with a good price lemme know
