I was looking for a powerful (In European standards...) RWD car and when I first saw SC400, it hit me like a wet sock on my face.
I had no idea Lexus had even made these cars, because they were never sold in Europe.

Nice powerful, but not too noisy V8 engine, sporty look, nice interrior, automatic AC and other electronic gizmos.

Such a good looking car from every angle to me... unlike previous cars i owned, s14, GC, DC2, SVX. Looks got me loving this car... and now after driving it, the smoothness of the inline six... And its a 5spd.

lol, but seriously...The car is amazing for its price. I wanted a RWD 5 speed car that looked nice and was cheap. The SC fit everything. Not to mention it has the almighty 2jz in it, well a weaksauce version but still. It can easily be swapped which i plan to do =] Also this car looks newer and is smoother than some 2000+ cars and mine is from 1993. Annnnd it's a Lexus

Because it was RWD, and notoriously long life engine. Good engineering, good SAFETY(something overlooked in the performance community), good appearance, and a good price(v8's are very undesirable rite now, maybe the only reasonably valued JDM car you can buy right now). I was afraid that gas would be a problem, but so far have been getting 25MPG, which is alot better than our buick roadmasters which at 5.7L guzzled gas like no other.

After I got the car I found out that it had incredible suspension and power, and that it wasnt a japanese version of an american cruiser, but rather the japanese version of the shelby cobra! a 2door v8 RWD sports car with tight suspension, with alot of potential for tuning, grip racing, and drifting. The only hurdle is converting it to manual.... this car should ONLY have been sold as a manual.

I love all these guys that buy scs "because they couldn't afford a supra" and then end up putting as much money into them as they would have just buying a supra lol

supras, just for a stock one, I've seen go for 30,000 dollars. Considering I got my sc400 for 5,000... that'd give me 25,000$ worth of parts money... thats an absurd budget....

Mine was a BPUed 6 speed for $20k. Just gotta look! But some people on CL have definitely spent way over 25k on their SCs- not really comparing value, just price. I guess my point is while cost of entry of an SC is low they're definitely not cheap!

Agreed...I'm already planning on sinking close to 20k into the car before I'm done and probably will spend more.
