Default Help With Exhaust

Hey everyone, Just traded my 1999 eclipse gsx for a 92 SC 300!

I'm currently in love my future is big turbo and built motor. Unsure if i wanna do the swap or build the motor out since i've owned the car for 2 days now. HOWEVER -

The car has 3" exhaust all the way back to an Apex'i can Thats just way to loud! I'm guessing resonators are the way to go? I live in west virginia where we do have laws against no cat, most shops don't bother to check. Any help on this matter on what to do would help alot or share your stories.

If anyone needs pictures of the exhaust as is that's not a problem but i assume this will be easy to answer.

Thanks!

It is 3inch pipe all the way back? and too loud? I would say yes, a resonator could help your problem a bit. Do you happen to have a video?

Im guessing he has the stock cat, and from there straight 3 in. piping. I just saw a vid of a guy with 2 1/2 in. piping from the cat back and it was loud.

no the exhaust is 3" all the way back from the headers WITHOUT CAT lol.

It is raspy at higher rpm's. I'm trying to find a smooth sound so i'm willing to go with anyone's advice as far as that goes. This is the way i got the car so please don't hate too much just advice on what to do please :-)

Note* i believe the smoke is from bad valve seals or rings. The motor will be rebuilt via winter.

Hmm, shop around for a good resonator. Look for consumer reviews. Ask around.

mines 3" from the downpipe all the way to the hks hi power muffler w/ no cats or resonator and it's really quiet. i think the muffler plays a role in sound as well...

^Your NA-T so it would be waay more quiet that his N/A. Turbos kinda act like mufflers in a way.

apexi mufflers don't exactly "muffle" exhaust noise except to give it that sound

How about compared to a HKS HI FLOW muffler with a 4inch exit and 3inch inlet?

I'm telling you guys it's truely not as great as you think it is.

It's very raspy when u let off the gas, reminds me of a Honda civic reving to 10k and backing off. Everyone knows that sound haha. You can hear the car coming for almost a football field. This weekend it will get 1-2 resonators, I was told it would take away the rasp so that will be great.

I agree when u run a turbo it muffles alot of the sound. However I don't want 3 cars ahead hear me drop a gear espcially in my cop field county.
