Question $.02 Tint sense

I know that illegal tint is a common issue when it comes to inspection time, at least it is in NC. I just talked to several people at a shop about this, and they all said to jsut roll the windows down on a hot day when you go for inspection. None of them have failed inspection and most times the inspection shop won't even bother to roll windows up to check. Sounds to simple to be true,but..............just an FYI.

The problem/flaw with this idea, your rear/back windows are still visible, but good luck.

It wont. You may get past an inspector, especially if you go to the right shop. But if you have been in this Commonwealth for any period of time you should know that these super troopers WILL pull you over just for that. It's happened to me twice. I had 35% tint on my front windows (illegal in VA) on a car with a light gray interior. The second time I got stopped over I pulled the d@mn tint off the window on the side of the road and STILL got a ticket.

Florida is one of the more lenient states as far as tint % goes. I believe it's 35% on the front and 20% in the rear. That said, my SC is the first car I've had with anything less than 5% all around and it's 18%. Running the risk of a jinx here but never gotten a ticket or even hassled about it in the 15 years I've been driving. Honestly with the heat and sun beating down here in the summer, it's made me strongly consider having 5% put in my SC even tho the current tint is flawless. I think the popo realize that and as long as you're not a complete **** even if you get pulled over, you're fine. I know more than a handful of peeps with tint on their windshields who haven't been griefed about it either.

I've lived here all my life and I know how awesome the Commonwealth is. Tint really has never appealed to me so I've never installed it. The funny thing is that the SC I'm looking at tonight is owned by a Sheriff lol. I'll take a look and see how "legal" it is tonight.

i got 5% on all the side windows, 35% on the front windshield, and 15% on the whole back window! i know in most states its illegal but i live in a smaller city inside of memphis and since we arent city we dont have to go through inspection! have had it since summer of 2008 only been pulled over 2 times (knock on wood) and only one ticket that i took to court and got dismissed as i said i removed it (again knock on wood)

have no intention of removing though

this is on my gs below....my es was even darker and my sc was dark too

I have a Legend that came from Florida with tint on the windshield. Youre asking to go to d@mn jail if you do that mess in VA. The side windows are WAY too dark, and the car is black on black. I KNOW I'm gonna get pulled one day, but I've been drivning with the sunroof open to try and lighten it up some! I took that tint off the front windshield as soon as it rolled off the truck.

Im in florida and got pulled over 2wice by the same cop for my window tint. he gave me 4 window tint tickets. 2 each time, one for my front window being tinted 30% and one for the sides being tinted 5% percent... oh and yea this was unmarked cop in a different vehicle everytime. so i had no chance to know if there was a cop around to put my window down so i wont get pulled over.
now i just rock the fishbowl and not worry about cops harrasing.

they make this tint now that makes your windows look clear but it blocks 99% of UV rays and keeps your inside of the car super cool in the hot summer days. i forgot what its called

The front windshield is like 4" from the roof, the front windshiels can be 28% and the rears can be 15% i believe. I just got mine 20% all the way around and it looks pretty dark with my black interior but i can still see out at night. I am going back to get my front windshield done but im undecided on 50% or 35% im leaning more towards 50%.

Either way the cops in my town dont seem to mind since most people i know rock 5%.

Most people around here have 15% or 5% tint which are illegal but cops don't pull you over for it unless they happen to notice it while writing a ticket for something else. I've got 15% on my windows and I'll get 30% on the windshield in a few months. No tickets yet.
