I really like this idea, but my question is that, could I can get any button and wire to the ignition switch? Engine start button is just a normal button and you can get normal button even smaller if wanted at radioshack. The button just sends the signal to ignition switch which will turn the starter and turn on the engine.
Yes, you could use any button. But, the engine start buttons are made for larger loads and the smaller buttons can burn up very fast unless you have a relay, and possibly a resistor depending on the size of the button. Just make sure its not a toggle button.
In that video, he try to start the engine with the key and nothin happen. Does that mean he cut his ignition wire and rewired to cig lighter? I just wanna tap into the ignition so i can use either the button or turn the key to start the engine?

i also thought i would clear up something else. I ran a wire directly to my starter and by passed the switch completely. The only reason i did that is because i had a problem with my clutch sensor and the key would not start the car before. So thats why i just decided to install the push button starter i had
And here is the video of mine, its in the DIY thread i posted but i figured i would put it here too
it may just be me, but i don't like how thats set up. he would still have to use the key to unlock the steering wheel, and i would be afraid of bumping it while going down the road.
yes i am game! just curious if anyone has put it in the ignition location? thats what i want to do so it will look like it came from the factory like that
I did this about four years ago, before some $&%* broke into my car. I enjoyed the look, because it seemed more racy (not to be confused with ricey)....
