Default Homelink question

My 98 SC3 has Homelink. After some searching I could find the answer to my question.

Can you program more than one garage door into your Homelink? I've tried following the directions posted in a Homelink DIY but can only get one door programmed. I do not have an owners manual to refer to.

If it's possible and someone knows the trick, please let me know.

Thanks

Ken

You can program up to 3 different garage door openers with the home link system. If you can't get the car to detect the garage door opener, then it might have a rolling code system which would require you to press the programming switch on the actual garage door opener.

I've tried that also to no avail. I cannot get the second two buttons, when pressed individually for 20 seconds, to flash fast and then accept the code. I'm sure I'm still doing something wrong.

Here are the instructions I used:

Please note it is recommended to have new batteries in your handheld garage door transmitter prior to programming and pull your vehicle complete outside of the garage because the door will activate during programming

1. For first time training, press and hold the two outer HomeLink buttons, releasing only when the HomeLink indicator light begins to flash after 20 seconds. (Do not perform this step when training the additional HomeLink buttons.)
2. Hold both the handheld transmitter button and the HomeLink button you would like to program until the HomeLink flashes slowly then rapidly (then release both buttons)
3. Press and hold the HomeLink button you just programmed. If the garage door opens/closes then programming is complete. If it does not then proceed to step 4.
4. Get a ladder and press and release the “learn” button on the back of your garage door motor head
5. Within 30 seconds get back into your vehicle and press and release the HomeLink button you just programmed up to 3 times or until your garage door activates. Programming is complete.

I got it! The problem was that I was not holding the button on the garage door opener long enough for Homelink to pick it up. Thanks guys.

Default homelink help

Programming for the rolling codes.

I initially put up a question, went to dealer and got the answer. Here are the steps. PATIENCE IS VERY IMPORTANT ON THIS TYPE OF OPENER.

1. Clear all old codes, hold down outer two buttons 20 seconds until it blinks then release.

2. Hold down the button you want to program your opener for 20 seconds until it flashes fast then its in the mode to receive the code from your opener. It may flash slow first be patient and wait.

3. Point the programmed opener controller at the homelink visor approximately 1 inch away and hold until it flashes once it does, you release both buttons.

4. Go to your garage opener and push the learn button once. Mine is a craftsman belt drive.

5. Go back to the car that is parked in front of the garage press the button you did before for 2 or 3 times as it states in the manual. The opener lights may flash in the garage, and it is now programmed.

6. Test the button my pressing it down, you may have to hold for a second but it will work. Be patient, i went to the dealer to learn how to do this as the manual is not as specific on details and did not work. If this does not work please check the above instructions at the dealer and repost. Pretty sure this is how its done and how i remember the explanation by the dealers install rep.
