Default Where is this noise coming from???*********

So there is this loud clunking noise coming from the front passeger side of my car. when i step on the gas a little, it makes a "thud", and when i let off it makes another "thud". While driving on the highway it makes a humming noise if i coast along with out gassing. Also when i back up and come to a stop it make a "thud" but goin forward and coming to stops are fine. Im thinking it either the wheel bearing or the control arm bushings...what do you guys think?

my car was doing this too... turns out my motor mounts are completely shot. would explain the "thud" when your car begins moving... i thought it was something to do with the exhaust also.. because of the horrible noise it made while off the gas. If this doesn't help... check for exhaust leaks and check your EGR.

yep...sounds like motor mounts. The bushings wouldn't make that humming noise but the bearing might. But again, sounds like motor mounts to me. Good luck!

The part about making a thud when you reverse and come to a stop, but not when you roll forward to a stop sounds exactly like CA bushings. Motor mounts may be bad too, and causing some of your symptoms, but I'd bet a dollar your CA bushings are totally shot. It's easy enough to look under the car and see if the innner sleeve of the bushings is roughly centered in the outer sleeve, or if it's off center (collapsed) to the down side and there's voids in the rubber on top.

Well... Supposedly if you locate the motor mounts on your engine you can kinda see if they are "collapsed" but honestly I had my mechanic diagnose this cuz... I don't know tooo too much about cars. Just what my car has personally gone through. GL

Control arm bushings, sway bar bushings or end links, motor mounts, or strut mounts would be the first things I would look at.
