Default Been lurking for a while...Think Im finally ready

Well, I've contemplated for years on building a 2jz SC300 and thought, lookeed, lurked and read about it.

Somehow I have always found a way to talk myself out of it and go a different route.

Been thru M5's, Camaro's, G8 GXP's, Modded diesels (3 of them) and much much more. Currently I talked myself out of it and bought a Conquest TSi thats all built up. Needless to say, I hate it so I am putting on the blinders now and am going in one direction, SC300 with a swap or do my own.

Here's the questions now...

1) Would the suggestion be to buy a built one, or build it myself? Probably more a matter of opinion, but my biggest issue with building one is time.

2) The other question which I can't seem to find anything in the searches having tried several dozen terms and reading thru 18 pages on this section with no result. Would any one year be better than another? I realize the small exterior differences make the newest models more desirable, but those items can be changed. It seems from what I have read that the older ones are however simpler to swap. Can anyone provide some insight?

As it stands I am looking at 92 5 speed car I think is perfect, just looking for a little guidance before I drop the coin on it and start the process.

Welcome to the forums.

As for your first question, I'd build it myself.
Yes, it does take time and effort but I'd rather know what's going on w/ my swap/car rather than jumping into someone elses arm pit of mechanical ingenuity.

Basically, if you want it done right and done right the first time, do it yourself.
Plus, if you do it yourself you can prep the car how you'd like and possibly (while the car is being prepped) put the engine on a stand and do routine maintenance and/or upgrades as well.

I'm not too sure if there is a specific year that would cater more towards the swap but it seems as if it shouldn't be much different at all.
But then again, I'm just guessing. I've never swapped anything into a Lexus....just the good ole' regular honda's and Nissans. P:

Good luck in your future endeavors with the car!

Make sure to post up progress pics or finished pics!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Its funny how even having had 40k+ cars I have never been satisfied. Im hoping the combination of Luxury, power and that infamous 2JZ sound can do it.

Man, everyone is around the houston area. ):

I do too hope that the SC can bring you some satisfaction.
Maintain or re-do the luxury and add that gte and you will hand your 40k cars their asses! P:

Thats funny since I never seem to see any car meets or anything around here (aside from the Vtec crowd)

If this is as fun as to drive as it looks I think Ill be happy. The thing that is killing me is that I read in one place where a guy did a swap in a day and it was essencially a drop in minus the custom harness then I read something where all kinds of parts needed to be customized.

I can get a 2jz aristo motor, harness and ECU which is what I plan to run with a single turbo, full exhaust intake and FMIC. Only looking for 400-500whp (only )

I just dont want to deal with hunting for little nick nacks and pieces to get it going.

First off, welcome to CL!

To answer your first question, I'm gonna go with HeisLegend and say that you should buy just a good base and do the swap yourself. Though it will take time, YOU'LL be doing it and thus you'll know everything thats going on with it instead of just hopping in someone's swapped car.

Im sure someone else will chime in on answering the second question for me, since im in no position to answer it simply cause i dont know the answer lol.

But happy searching, and goodluck!! and remember, DONT STEER OFF THE SC ROAD AGAIN!! lol
