I want to try this out in order to get to know people on the site.

It will take you to a map. In the center should be a pop-up that says join this map. Enter your location and click ok. (I figure people should just enter their zip code and it will give a general area to where you're from and not have to be a specific address.)
Then enter your name/screen name and in the message section put a brief note like what kind of SC you own and or mods.
Then you can also upload an avatar picture like on CL.

I can't say for sure how well this will work, but I think It's a cool idea.

This is cooler then searching through pages locations and stuff.
