I just received my 92 sc400 back from the shop after being painted and new lights.
Now I notice that the high beams do not fit snugly into the holes in the bumper. There is a space open at the bottom of the lights, and the alignment bubbles are out of whack.
Is there some adjustment of the lights to make seat better? Other than just the aiming adjusters? Or possibly the bumber could be reinstalled a little off?
Is there any kind of rubber gasket around these as around the low beam assemblies?
I don't want to be **** about this stuff, just spending a lot of money getting this car fixed and want it done properly.
There is a small metal clip on each one of them that actually clips them to the bumper and pulls them in tight at the bottom. They are not real easy to get to so they may have been left off or just not noticed when they took the bumper off.
The first time i took my bumper off, i didn't take this clip off and when it pulled loose, it shot abt 10' from where i was working.
If I spent a bunch of money on that, I would take it back and tell them they need to align everything, because they didn't do it the first time.* If they say they cant, then speak with the manager, and go from there. If it's a factory bumper, then there is just no excuse whatsoever.
If it's an aftermarket kit, they should have test fit it first at the shop, and done any modifying necissary, like XKnownX's.
The high beams sit in the header panel and are not very adjustable at all, but you can move them a LITTLE BIT. I've actually gone as far as to remove the frame of the high beams from the header panel and relocate the screws just to get it right..... Nasty little design if it ever gets knocked off just a tad.
When I got my front bumper resprayed, my driver high-beam didn't fit correctly either. I told them to keep the car until everything fit like factory and they corrected it. Although, compared to a typical car, I'd imagine fitting a front bumper correctly to an SC would be quite difficult. Definitely take it back, if they're a reputable shop they should fix it for you.
