There are several generics on ebay ranging from $40 - 130 and then the trd or Cs are 400
I wouldn't say it's easy to install because I've done it on other cars where it was much much easier. This was the hardest of all. You have to get under the car for a few minutes and remove the radio bezel to get to it. Hardest part is making sure to get all the parts from your stock shifter and installing them in the right order. This thread should help anyone doing it out a lot. The shifting will feel much better afterward but will probably also make you drive the car harder and not get good gas mileage. I think its going to cause me to want a turbo more! If I were to do it again probably 45min to an hour now good luck

Really? So far I'm more confused than I was before viewing this thread, and I have actually done the install years ago.

If you're removing the radio bezel from underneath the car, I can understand why you find this so difficult.

OR...it'll just make you shift a bit quicker and it'll look just a bit better, and have no impact whatsoever on your gas mileage?

Now that I'm done with my pointless ranting, I'll try to remember why I was posting a reply in the first place. Oh yeah...
I don't remember the order because I had installed this over 2 years ago, and I had no instructions to go by so I used logic. Great thing about logic is that it doesn't change much, and is rarely forgotten. No gasket is needed where plastic meets metal. Gasket should be used where metal meets metal. Voilà!

Thanks for helping through pms but if you are having a bad day take it out on yourself only

The manufacturers directions are posted above which show the correct order.
The stock unit had the gasket under the plastic too, plastic on plastic there Lexus/Toyota must also know

Actually, my day is going just fine. Besides having walked a half mile to my dentists office at lunch in the pouring rain just to have each and every nook and cranny of my mouth poked at with a pointy metal object, then walking back through some calf-deep puddles to get back to my cubicle which I won't be leaving until later tonight with a case of pneumonia (due to my soaking wet feet), my day is just dandy.

As for my responses to some of your silly comments...I was just having some fun. My apologies if you didn't catch the humor.

Good luck with your install.

Cheers,
~Alan

Default Sorry to revisit an old thread, Want a short shifter for 96 SC300

Does anyone know who makes a short throw shifter for a 1996 SC300? I've looked everywhere for a year now and no one has it. I've tried MVP Motorsport that has it listed on their website but not available, TRD and all of ebay. Please help!
