small plastic object moving at towards your face, or your head slamming into the wheel. HMM that's a tough decision...

Personally, I'd rather not have a functional airbag then to deal with a retrofitted one. The single stage airbag was designed to be securely mounted behind its original cover with proper brackets etc. If you want to do it 100% right, get a 2001 RX airbag.

Thanks Emil for your concern. But there is a good point QwkSC is making. I've been in several accidents thanks to dumb@$$ drivers and not once has it ever been enough to deploy my airbag. (knock on wood). The scenario in which my airbag would deploy, I imagine it being a head on collision of some severity. At that point, all other factors would probably play a greater role such as flying broken glass etc. I would rather have my airbag connected because when it comes to either cracking my head open on my wheel or losing an eye, I'd rather lose an eye.

(Seriously, this whole post is KNOCK ON WOOD ><)

This thing is mounted perfectly with the bracket. The only thing needed to adjust was the holes on the side of the airbag cover, which has no safety implications. The cover is simply there to look pretty. The brackets are all securely fastened, with the bolt on each side. The CO2 canister is mounted in it's original location, all wiring is all OEM and has been untouched. It is really difficult to explain exacting what I did without having pictures but I did my best to sum it up.

Ok, just imagine a head on collision without an airbag. I appreciate the concern but I'm going to run an airbag. The same rule applies with people who still keep their license plates on their dash, those things could slice heads off. I am aware of what an emblem shooting at my head can do, but I am also aware of what no airbag can do. Pros and cons considered, an airbag still wins.

VERY unnecessary.

Perhaps I should include that I plan on superglueing the emblem on for a flusher look. I happen to know for a fact how stock emblems are attached. It is with plastic pins just as exterior emblems and an adhesive. Also, with the way the airbag splits, if the emblem is attached the way I will attach it, it will flip up with the top half of the cover and the bag will come through.

EDIT:

Also, some other very important things to consider. While emblems on the outside of the car are hard plastic, emblems made for steering wheels are a softer, more flexible material. These won't shatter unless you dry freeze them and hammer it. Also, it is absolutely ridiculous to compare an emblem to a BB. The surface areas are completely different. The amount of pressure a very small object produces is much larger than the force a larger object would produce.

Man i was hoping this discussion wouldnt go soo long. But okay. This is the last thing i will add. If you choose to ignore it, then fine. But just to ready for me to say " I told you so" in your death thread.

A bb gun travels at 135-220mph. Those can shoot clean through skulls. Now odds are the plastic wont travel clean through your head but still.

The pros of an normal airbag are great. But your airbag isnt normal. Let me explain what will happen.

The N02 goes off. This causes the airbag to expand. When it hits the cover, the force will cause your logo to come off and fly to your face. If it hits your eye, that's gone, If it hits your skull it will penetrate the skin for sure. Then it may or may not penetrate the skull. But thats not all. As soon as the airbag hits your face it will cause the emblem. Or even multiple pieces if it shatters toward your face. So it could push the logo through your skull if its aimed right or deeper into the eye. The possibilities are endless.

The point i am trying to make is worst case with no airbag, you brake your noise or hit the skull. Odds are it will hurt but it probably wont be fatel. With that logo will then anything is possible from nothing to a simple cut to your eye going away (or even both if it separates) to death. Thats exactly why you cant buy it from the dealership.

I've given you more then enough warnings now. What you chose to do now if your choice. But you should be aware of what may happen. I'd done and i hope you will listen. Like i said even i wouldnt do what you are doing right now. I hope that means something to you.
YOU ARE WRONG. We are all in agreement except you as always. The logic in keeping the airbag heavily outweighs your reasoning for not.

Looks good man! Those wheels should have came like that on the late model SC3/4s. Makes me miss my wood wheel even more now. I was surprised how much grip the wood provides when turning.
