Im in the middle of a swap and the metal hardline coming from the motor to the fuel filter is damaged and we are trying to run a steel braided line but cannot find the correct size fitting that will go onto the filter.

The problem is that it being metric all we have found are standard sizes.

If anybody has any idea what size fitting will fit on the fuel filter in order to run a braided line let me know!!!!!

 

why would you run a larger braided line and still use stock filter ..

run your braided line from tank and get a aeromotive high flow filter with the correct boss -an fittings for your line size

 

Equivalent braided hose size in AN is -6. I do not know the metric size for the fuel filter, but I would bypass it and add a high end filter, as Lexforlife mentioned.

To be honest, the more I mess with braided line, the more I hate it. I enjoy myself some neatly done pushlok lines w/ AN fittings. OP you can just use some 3/8 high pressure fuel line if all else fails.

 

actaully ryan stock hardline size is about 1/4in where -6an is 3/8 , i measured it when i decided to run -6an line from the tank to rail i was going to use -8an size which is 1/2 in but felt for my power goals it was overkill

The reason is we just wanted a quick replacement since the original line broke.

 

Lexforlife, you are correct. A -4 AN would be about the same size. My bad for the wrong info guys. I bypassed all my hard lines except for the stock return, and ran -6 AN into -10 AN.

This issue is a very real problem all of us will have to face at some point. Would a high flow filter help clear up any hesitation problems with the 92-95 400s I wonder. I here most of the prob. are more about a weak MAF?

 

Sometimes this will help, depends upon the issue of each individual car. Many malfunctions can cause hesitation. I do think many people do not change out their fuel filters as frequently as they shoud. They SC filters also rust up at the connections quite a bit, so they are real tough to disconnect and replace. So, I don't know the manufacturers suggested intervals, but those shold be followed and checked regularly.
