I have a sc400 and whenever im in reverse and backing up and applying the brakes i hear a loud clicking noise coming from the front passenger side. it happens as many times as i apply the brakes and is kinda loud. any suggestions on what could be causing this?

lol..you think..damn that took alot of thinking. obviously its my brakes but what i was asking was what on my brakes is causing that to happen. if you didnt know, theyre are things called brake components which consist of slide pins, caliper, pads, rotors, brake lines..etc. im only asking those people who have experienced this type of problem

correct me if im mistaken, but i think i heard that our sc's come with auto adjusting calipers or something, and when you go from drive to reverse the pads shift position a little making a slight clicking noise, mine have done this since day 1 and i never had any problems with my brakes, but if its something that you never noticed before its always a safe bet to get it checked out, or at least a visual check, make sure the pad is not hanging out of the caliper, you know obvious stuff

oh and forgot to add maybe bushings... i forgot how mine used to sound before i replaced them , just throwin it out there...

have a second person look at the breaks while u back up,
i dont know what noise your trying to tell us, but if the whole brake assembly on top of the rotor looks like its shifting everytime you left go of the brake then its your control arm bushings..

have them checked out.

If its the controll arm bushings there will be play between aplying the brakes and releasing.

I'm thinking its the caliper, or the caliper brackets are rusted.Mine is doing it now,i'm fixing them next week.

Brakes are engineered in a way to only work forward with all the stress, force etc applied.

1. check the 2 mounting bolts are tight
2. piston is a little rusty and seizing, when you reverse you release's the pad and piston from the rotor
3. after spirited driving (mostly track cars) the pad compound starts to stick to the rotor (@ traffic lights)
4. where the studs go through the rotor. There is some free play forward and back
5. handbrake cable needs adjusting (rear)
