what do you think?
I'm looking to buy and sc and I came across a 1992 sc400 with 256,000 miles. But it looks good and the guy only wants 1950 for it. I had a sc300 with 141,000 and it ran like a champ. But 256,000 is A LOT of miles. Do you think if it runs okay that I should go for it? I know these things can run forever but its still a lot of miles no matter the way you look at it. Any input would be greatly helpful.
it depends on how much your willing to spend. . . . also ive seen bettter sc's in the connecticut area check this one

how much experience do you have swapping engines or more importantly transmissions? If you only have 3k to spend find a different car, maybe a honda civic. The mpg is bad and with that many miles the car WILL be a money pit.
I say find another one. Even though I'm sure it still has life, why not start with something with less miles. I'm sure you can find one with half the miles for $3k. Just look around, there are deals to be had.

yeah, I agree with this one...are you able to do your own work, or do you have some friends that's willing to help you get your car running? If so, offer him 1500, and do the basic maintenance: oil change, filter, spark plugs and wires. Good luck and keep us posted.
My 94 sc300 has 275k. drives like a champ
my 95 has 130k. drives wonderfully.
the 94 really doesnt feel that much different with all the extra mileage.
if its been maintained and you change out all the bushings, PS, control arms, put new shocks and struts on it, any SC will ride like a champ. If the engine is good that is.

you can get a low mileage 2jz for like 300 bucks if you can do work yourself.
but you can get one at a far far better price. i got a 95 with 147 for 1700. a little body damage but nothing drastic.
you just have to be patient.
