Default Engine/transmission Whinning Noise

Hi All,

When my in transmission in P, R or D and accelerate (even when the car is still, I can hear some sort of whine coming from the engine. It happens ususally in the morning and will go away after a while. I have check the tranny fluid and no problem. What could be wrong? Please help.

BTW, I don't know which car I am going to bring this Saturday to Marina? Lexus and Bimmer are both going to meet.

No idling problem. Everything is bone stock? Could it be the engine or transmission mounts?

I'm no authority, but I do not think it is your tranny. It makes noise in all gears, in park, your motor is disengaged from the tranny.

If your block shifts around inside your bay more than normal, it could be your mounts, but I don't think that is your problem either.

The reason I asked if your car is stock is because frequently (not sure about the lexi, I'm new) cars with modified intakes will whine under load. This is normal on some brands or applications.

Your stock. So, check your intake tubing and connections, and the filter element box for tightness and security. Check vacuum lines - the silicone tubes running from your intake manifold to your resonator and throttle body and all that. They may be sucking air from outside their connection or broken. If all that looks good. Take it to a tech. But if your car runs fine and the MIL is not lit, I would say it probably is not a major issue.

Edit:
While you're at it - check to make sure your air filter element is clean.
