Has anybody had a slight kick(hard shift) when accelerating from a stop light?? I'm trying to diagnose the problem but i don't know where to start. I have clean transmission fluid. it dosen't do it all the time mostly on strong accelerations.Anybody have this problem??
Are you trying to run hard on a cold engine/tranny? The computer will hold 2nd gear longer when the engine/tranny hasn't warmed up. Do a search in the Transmission forum and you'll see lots of threads on this topic.
lexus' have MINIMAL problems with trannys from my experience. I sometimes get a hard downshift while pulling into my driveway after driving her hard, which i think is caused by the low idle problem.(or she's just pissed 'cause I was beating on her ) is it downshifting hard too, or just hard upshifts??
I have the same problem,, but when starting from a dead stop (starting off slow) I feel a noticeable shift / pull in first gear, if I accelarate a little harder (moving with / ahead of traffic) I dont feel anything every gear change is smooth. maybe I'm over reacting
Tranny Issue! I had same thing and cured it-for nothing.
I had a similar thing happend a couple of months ago. It turned out to be a loose battery lead-yes I am serious! When I pulled away the engine would flex in the mounts, the battery would not and the movement in between the two was enough to "stall" the engine for a millisecond and cause a transmission jerk.
When I checked the terminals on both + & - were loose. It costs you nothing to check and mine has been back to flawless for the last couple of months.

hey man, i noticed the same thing on my gs4 the other day....when i am at a complete stop or going very slowly and then hit the gas....the tranny seems to jerk when it is shifting into the next gear.....hmmm...im gonna have my mechanic check it out.....lemme know what you find out and ill do the same...
i had the same problem on the second gear so i took it to ammco transmission they did their little diagnostic it took them like 4 days to do this. then they tell me a whole bunch of stuff thats i didnt understand abou the oil being dirty and that certain parts need it to be replace well i know that i it was gonna come out to like 3 grand so i was like oh my god i had a extended warranty and they suggested to get a used tranny they had from another GS i`ve never checked to see if they actually did change the tranny but it works fine now and im happy with it

so you don't knwo what they did to your tranny? did the dealership do the work or did u let aamco do it? just curious.
thanks for the help, my car is getting painted now (065-white gold cyrstal) i am making a list of my mechanical issues. this is at the top of the list.
This normally happens on my Aristo whenever I'm in traffic, but I've noticed that if I turn off the power mode it doesn't seem to "jerk" forward. Do you have your power mode set to on when it does this? Under normal I don't get any of it.

Skeet I seem to have a similar issue...mine seems to buck at me on occasion when I am off the gas, but not on the brake...but as with you it seems to behave better if I turn off the power mode..did you figure out anything as far as a cause?
