98 SC400 vs 98 GS400
The 98 SC 400 and 98 GS 400 are both listed on wikipedia as having the same 4.0 L 1UZ-FE V8 engine, however, the GS is listed with 300 hp/310 ft·lb with a 0-60 in 5.4 secs for the 3963 lb sedan compared to 290/300 ft·lb with a 0-60 in 6.0 sec for a 3,604 lb SC coupe.
Do they both have the same engine? Is the UZS160 in the SC too?
If they both have the same engine then why is a freakin heavier sedan faster on paper (wiki specs) than the coupe? Can someone please explain this? Why would Lexus make a sedan faster than it's sports car? lol

GS400 was ad as fastest in its class, does that mean something? maybe the different is in the trannie and tuning based on 0-60 run if this makes sense! takes GTR which created much of debates due to a fact that it wieghts tons yet run 3.2 to 60, some say it's magic involved, the magic was the trannie and it takes 2 gears B4 reaching 60mph with ultra fast shifting time

At the time the GS400 was the sports sedan of the line up where as the SC, while a coupe, was more of a tourer and not intended as a "sports car". Its the same engine, but I assume there are minor differences that people have pointed out already that contribute to better performance out of the GS.

the extra 10hp/10tq was pretty much from the exhaust design. the two differed only by that. the engine/tranny were the same. so if you look up the header design as well as the exhaust from the header to center cat/resonator, that's where the difference is.

there isn't 10 more pound feet of torque, just 10 hp
