Default GS400 vs SC400

Can anyone point me in the right direction about the engine specs of the GS400? - Any websites to read out there?
It seems that the GS400 makes substantially more power than an SC400 - is that correct?
If so what are the biggest differences between the cars that account for this?
What about 0-60 times and 1/4 mile specs - any info out there?
I've done a couple of searches but haven't found much.
best regards

Default gs400 specs

The 98 and up gs400s have 300 hp and the torque is either 310 or 315. 0-60 time is around 5.7 sec.

the 92 - 97 SC4's had 250hp/~260tq. 0-60 around 6.7 and quarter in hi 14s/low 15s. 98 and up lowered those times about 1/2 sec. hope that helps.

the 98-00 GS400 and SC400 both have a 4.0 liter v-8 but for some reason the GS has higher HP I think since they changed the ECU so the GS gets better fuel/air mixture plus they have diffrent exausts, I think the GS has a free'er flowing exaust

as for the GS430 and the SC430 they have the exact same engine but the GS is alittle faster I think because the SC is a convertable and the GS is more aerodynamic but Im not sure on that one

Right the GS does have a better drag coefficient(.29 vs .31). But also the GS430 is 137 lbs lighter than the SC430.

pete-

don't have any websites to give... however, i think the 98+ gs400's have substancially more hp/torque/better timeslips than 92-97 sc400 due to vvti, 5 speed auto (as oppose to the 4 speed), and ecu tuning.

i think they made the 98+ gs400 have 10 more hp (300 hp) than the sc400 (290 hp) because at that time, they were pushing the redesigned gs400 into the market. more of a marketing move than an engine limitation since it is the same engine. guess lexus wanted to make an impact and get a better return on their new gs400 model than on a sc400.

btw, that shift kit for the sc400 looks sweet... but what is this about full manual control with the auto. i think i'm reading it wrong.
