Default Timing Advance Kit??? 20hp ++?????

Hmmm.... Timing advance kit?
20 more horse powers???

I've never heard of this kit before...and I'm in a little bit of doubt.
Does this actually work without problem?

Default Yikes! Check out his eBay feedback- some UNhappy campers!

If you'll check his eBay feedback (http://cgi2.ebay.com/ebaymotors/aw-c...serid=nickntab), you'll notice what one guy said recently:
"Neutral : Not a "KIT" Just a resistor, Not worth asking price".

Hah! So you wire in a resistor between the intake air temp sensor and the computer, and that's the "trick" that sends the computer colder air readings, advancing the timing!

I'll let other members chime in with whether or not that is a good idea, but we would have heard about this before now if getting 20 more hp was this easy.

I'd want to see some results before praising,or discounting it;I've done just that to other vehicles with some very good results.
Most SC owners like the idea of something programmed somewhere,to satisfy their hi tech tastes.
I know that the timing is seriously retarded on these cars from the factory.

Its true, if its just a resistor. Problem is, you need to figure out what resistance. I saw it done on a Pontiac Grand Am and it really works. Just sends a different signal, and its a sound theory as well. Resistor should run you under $2 at Radio Shack. If they don't have it, order one from them. Don't count on 20 HP though.

Why don't you just advance the timing manually. I know it is a pain , being with two distributors. All you need is some time and at most a timing light.

I bet the SC400 can gain a little up top with more timing advance... You'd have to use good gas, though or the knock sensors will dial it back. And it already pings like a SOB at low rpm from a lean fuel map in that RPM band. To solve that problem, you have to use a resistor in-line with the coolant temp sensor. I suppose you could use a potentiometer to vary the resistance and gain some dial control over these inputs...

Bad idea - my chip does the same thing but it's precise to the half degree and dyno tuned, not a freakin resistor. That will mess up your motor more than likely.
