Default smoke problem?

I was driving today and smoke started to emerge from the top of the dash, outta the cigarette outlet and outta my a/c vents so I drove home and took apart the center console and saw that all the wires connected BURNED pretty much all the way through and now my ac/heater unit doesn't work.?
what do you think happened?
and how can I fix this problem?
Thanks!

Do you have an aftermarket head unit? Sounds like one of the wires got exposed and grounded to some metal back there.

Good question, what did happen? I cant think of anything really unless you have an aftermarket head unit. If most of the harness fried you're going to enjoy replacing it with another one.
