Default Helps!911! Door won't close!

Crap.
This is one hell of an introduction to the SC world.
Bought a nice '94 sc300 5spd yesterday, and while trying to fix the nonfunctional outside driver's door handle that seems to plague these cars, I accidentally latched the door latch into the closed position with the door open.

Now the door won't close, fidgeting with the interior door handle and the exterior door handle does nothing. Tried pulling the whole latch mechanism out, but ran out of time before I had to go to work.

Anyone have a picture from the service manual? Any advice on how to get it back in the open position? Any advice on how to get the latch out from inside the door?

Did few searches, but they only seem to dig up posts on the broken exterior handle.

Thanks for your help.

1st make sure door is unlocked (duhh, right?) make sure outside handle rod is not jammed (may keep inside handle from working) pull inside handle (or cable if door is all appart) you will most likely need to put your finger in the latch to make the latch open (the part that hooks onto the door striker) good luck but should be super easy.

Yeah I had the door unlocked. I tried using the inside door handle which always worked ok.

Any advice on pulling out the whole latch mechanism? looks like that's what I'll be doing tomorrow.
