Default Keyless Entry Expensive to Replace?

I just got my car and it didn't even come with this!
Can I get this piece cheap and reprogram it myself or do I have to go to lexus?

didnt even realize you can do that. if you build it keep us posted!

but I called lexus here in canada and they want something ridiculous for the remote, like $500 or something. find out your FCC-ID (on a box under your passenger side rear window panel) and get a used remote with a matching ID # for like $60..

Im working on the system right now. Well i havnt actually started, but im brainstorming and working out how its all going to work. I think im going to use a regular aftermarket remote start/keyless entry, and cut off the RF receiver and install an arduino board there. Some custom programming and electrical tape...a week later my car is aware of my presense...or at least my phones

EDIT:I dont want to threadjack tho...believe me,when its actually started, there will be posts, pictures, and writeups.

there is a **** under the driverside dash...adjust it clockwise for a louder beep. counter clockwise turns it down.

Not to change the subject , but I think my key crapped out. Lately I had to start pressing the button on the key like 12 times to make it work. It finally stopped working , thinking it was the battery. Changed that , and still doesn't work . Any ideas ?

it depends on the year of your car. the earlier sc's cannot be programmed with another remote; you have to buy a new remote with a new chip and replace your existing chip in your car. google sewell lexus, they sell parts for cheaper than the other dealers.

yeah sewell is a great place. I'm only 26 miles from them

Why don't you want an aftermarket alarm? This doesn't make sense to me

yeah , you can't get much better than the oem keyless entry. It works great and disables the car. I hate not being able to remotely activate it.
