I'll assume you just mean drivetrain changes, as opposed to options, colours, etc. The only change between '92-97 enginewise was in 1996, when the SC got the motor that debuted in the 1995 LS, it had 10hp and 10lbs ft more torque, for a total of 260 and 270, respectively. 1998 was the year the VVT-i engine and 5spd auto debuted, if you're gonna upgrade, '98-2K is the way to go, if you can find a nice one for a decent sum, modern day musclecar, 10.8:1 compression, 290hp @ 6000rpm, 300lbs.ft. torque @ 4000rpm.

Oh, sorry, just saw that you wrote sc300, thought you meant 400. 1997 was the last year a manual transmission was available for the SC3, and the only other change to the 2JZ-GE was the introduction of VVT-i, which if I remember correctly was the same year variable valve timing was introduced for the 1UZ-FE, so that would be '98. I believe the horsepower rating for the 2JZ remained the same, 225hp @ 6000rpm, but torque rose by 10lbs.ft. to 220lbs.ft. @ 4000rpm.

Legends, if you have an SC3, you may be right, not sure if they got VVT-i in '97 or '98, but I thought it was '98. If you have an SC4, it's definitely not VVT-i until '98.

Legends and Lex,

I'm pretty sure the SC300 VVT-i didn't come out until '98. I have a '97 SC300 and it does not have VVT-i.
