Default A/C Light Blinking (Used Search)

Well,

Coming to work this morning my A/C light started blinking and my car bogged down for a few seconds. Ran diagnostic and got code 21 but car was inside and not in sun. When I hit the A/C button I get a grinding noise at the compressor for about three seconds and then the clutch shuts back off. I'm assuming my compressor clutch or the compressor itself has taken a dump. When it shuts off the A/C light starts blinking again. So do you guys think for sure it's the compressor ???? Car is a 92 SC300 but only has 84,000 miles on it. I think since I'm going to keep the car for a long time that I'll lean toward a new compressor. Reagan at Sewell lexus takes very good care of me so I'll check pricing on a new compressor. Anybody else have a source for a new one ????

Sounds like the compressor to me. Pop the hood and have someone else turn on the AC and watch what it does.

Check or post in the classifieds for a new compressor.

just found 26 threads on ac blinking, all said compressor. Only 3 or so had such obvious symptoms as the bad part literally screaming at you. Time for new parts and a charge up.

OLT,

Yeah, and I think I read them all. Ordered a new compressor and drier from Reagan at Sewell. My mechanic confirmed when I drove it by there. Only day in Texas it's been in the high seventies in months and today is when my A/C takes a crap. Having that kind of month.

I'll take your high 70's. My '50 has been parked un-operated on since the weather turned. Gotta get warm enough to convince me to go outside and swap those engine mounts so I can take a "slow ride".

The SC is a hot car by nature. You don't need heat, but you have to have cool.
