Default salvaged title

hey, im looking for a lexus sc400. ive found 2 that im really interested in and a 3rd that is cheap but has a salvaged title. the guy is askin 1500 and said the lowest hell go is 1000. i have 900 saved up that i was goin to offer him but decides not to because of the title. its a 92 with about 130k. the car is red and has grey bumpers. worth it? or should this car only be used for parts?

Go get it looked at by a mechanic and if they come back saying it's straight framed and that it's good to go.... well 900-1000 is really cheap and I would jump on it. (assuming you aren't going to be selling it for a long time)

If you only have 900 then don't buy a car.. unless your parents are footing the bill on insurance, gas etc

I'd pass even though the price is good then that leaves u with nothing for maintenance or expected repairs given that age and mileage. Also, from a personal opinion I would not buy a salvage title unless 1) was salvage due to theft 2)i never planned to sell it.

I was given a civic because trans was shot and I drove fine but when I hit 90 it would slip so I wanted 2 sell it and I lost touch with the owner so I went to the sec. Of state got a salvage title! All they asked is if the car was honestly given 2 me and they looked up the title and saw it was clear! So I would b a lil skeptic cause its a reason y the title was salvaged and y he really wants 2 sell it!but hey I bought my gs from my barber for 1,000 cause some mechanic told him it would cost thousands cause it was a lexus and when I took it to the shop it was only a bad starter! So......it's 50/50! I would buy it and c how much work it needs and if it's bad part it out on here and make your money back + some! U can't lose.....except 4 the part about u needing a new car but it takes money 2 make money!

I agree if you have 900 bucks dont buy a car. My new sc400 cost me 4000. And so far i have spent 20 bucks on coolant (already had 1 gallon; othervise it would be 40), 40 bucks on engine oil/filter, 5 bucks on brake fluid, 5 bucks on tranmission fluid for the fan and ps. And i still need to buy a cabin air filter, air filter, and rear brake pads. And dont forgot this isnt even a full tune up, i still need spark plugs (possible wires, cap n rotor) So were talking about 100-200 bucks for maintenance alone min. Unless your super lucky and find one where everything is taken car of. (but if your spending 900 thats not gonna happen)

Not worth spending the $1000 for the car. Possible frame damage that a mechanic might not be able to see. Painting the bumpers would be over $400 if you want to do it right. Maintence isn't hard to DIY ,but if it is over 100,000 miles then you will spend over $500 for parts alone. Use the money you already have and repair the Acura. After you fix it then put it back up for sale. Once you get the moeny for it buy a SC get one for at least $2000 so you won't have to deal with much.
