Default Fuel Problem?

Hi guys, I posted awhile about the problem I have been having but I didn't get any responses, perhaps because my description was sort of vague. So here we go again.

I have a 1993 lexus SC400, and sometimes when I start it, it will start fine for about 3 seconds and then the RPMs of the car while in idle, just after starting, will plummet from just under one until it is eventually zero. Then I have to turn the car off and start it again.

A temporary remedy for this problem I have found was to hit on the gas just after I start the car. When I do this it will start and stay idling fine.

Any idea of what it might be and if my temporary "fix" could create more problems?

My car did this before the fuel pump ECU went out. Not saying that's your problem, mind you, just some food for thought. Goodluck.

How much did that cost you to fix? And how long did you drive when it started before it went out?

I did the 12v mod.

Search for it and it should come up. It costed me about 40 minutes of my time. I drove maybe a couple a week or so after it started acting up.

Look for the write up first to bypass the Fuel pump ECU just to make sure it is. But again, I'm not saying it's your problem.
Goodluck.

Check your induction/intake system. Clean out your throttle body and put some fuel injector cleaner in your gas. Use some seafoam also cause if you have a motor over 100,000 miles you have some major carbon buildup. Also there is a adjusting screw on your throttle body if that needs to be adjusted to the right rpm. If your fuel ecu is going out and you don't want to keep doing the 12volt ghetto mod the ecu is located behind the drivers seat. You will need to remove the rear seat to get to it nothing crazy. There is a little box bolted down and should say fuel ecu or something similar. You can get those at a junkyard cheap. They have them on CL for cheap too.
