We'll I've had my car for almost 2 years now and I absolutely love it but...after being on this site I think I over payed for it. It is a 93' and had 62K on it when I bought it. Car was in solid condition but still had some flaws. Paint was faiding through the clearcoat on the C-Pillar, seats were torn, wood faded. Since I bought it I've had to replace the ECU, AC compressor, LCA bushings too. The car is now in excellent condition, new interior, new paint, ect... I payed 9 grand for it, does this sound high for the condition it was in?
Here's my opinion on low mileage SC300s in particular.
Low mileage isn't always the best way to go. A good 60k mile car should be very clean, no rust, garage kept, and should show it. The interior should be flawless, and everything should work. That's a $10k SC300
60k miles is just the beginning of expensive service intervals for the SC300
Timing belt at 60k or 80k depending on yr model.
Water pump at the same time or 100k miles or so
By 75k miles you may or may not have a power steering leak too.
Your best bet is to find a car with lower miles and then have a dealership run the VIN to tell what all service has been performed.
I was lucky to find one of these cars, but it's still not perfect and need's some upkeep.
Sound's like you paid too much, originally, but now you have an excellent car!
You'll learn the term "Sunk Cost" in your first economics class.
Sunk Cost-A cost that has been incurred and cannot be reversed.
Be happy that you have such a low mileage that will have a higher resale value to the general populace than a car like mine that has 180K on the ticker. It is true that I may be able to get a higher amount for my car from other SC-enthusiasts, but you could probably take your car with great mileage and trade it in for more than kbb values my car at retail!
I agree with the guys here, Whats done is done, Yah you probably could have got a better deal, but the car is yours now, and until you get another one I would not be concernred with what you paid for the first.
Something is only worth, what someone is willing to pay for it.
Enjoy the car and you live and learn..
Peace
Cruz
Should of, could of, would of...all scenarios, but what's most important is do you love the car now? If this is yes, then be thankful...it's most likely you bought the car right before expensive maintenance time-no biggie, you get what you put into your car. It could of been worse, just think if you would have bought the car new in 93? Atleast now, you know what has truly been replaced or fixed on your SC-thus eliminating guess what. Either way, enjoy!
