I searched and found a thread that says 88880-30040 is used for the air filter. But when i look at newer model sc3/4s they use 88880‑24020.

Now i am awhere triming might be required. But should i go with the part number listed in the thread or go with the cabin air filter in a new model sc?

BTW here is the thread;

make sure you call different dealerships to get the best price. I found some dealerships here charge as high as 85 for it. 48 is the lowest i found it for(before tax)

All sc's have a slot for a cabin air filter. But some years like 92 just didnt come with one stock. The cabin air filter for newer models work on our older models but we need to trim off some of the plastic around the filter. Our slot is just a tiny bit smaller then the newer scs.

You can always just make one using the cheap air filters at home depot. Here's a DIY I found, that's not for our cars, but it's the same process. It works great!

BTW, I didn't have the plastic piece, so I just cut a square from the cheap AC filter, and then put electrical tape around the edges to hold it in place and just wedge it into the cabin filter slot. It was easy and anybody can do it.

Just bought one for $33 from Lexus of Pembroke Pines. Do a google search for Lexus of Pembroke Pines Parts and pull up their Trademotion ecommerce site. You have to order the part online to get that price.

All cabin filters for any cars are a ripoff. They wanted $32 for my $runner. Buy a cheap filter from Lowes or home depot...do some cutting and you are set. Nobody sees it anyway and to be honest, they don't do all that much to begin with.

Well i just got the filter today.

I already knew i had to trim the edges and i did that. I trimed both sides of the rear filter and one side of the front filter. Turns out that still wasnt enough. Then i cut off half of the rear filters bottom tab. After i did that, i got a pretty snug fit for both filters.

Yup thats what you have to do, I had to do the same thing with the tab to get it to fit right.

And buying them on Ebay makes no difference on these cars they still need to be trimmed for the early production models.
